Hours

Full time: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week

Location  

This is a hybrid role, with your time spread between your home and our Head Office in Kilbirnie Street, Glasgow. 

About the role

Arnold Clark’s Digital department is responsible for delivering technical solutions across our business.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of operating and following processes relating to software asset management, maintaining a software catalogue and joiners, movers and leavers processes. You’ll also work with meticulous attention to detail in regards to licence allocations and entitlement, with knowledge of Free, Licensed and Open-Source Software (FLOSS) licences.

Reporting to the Senior FLOSS Analyst, you will provide software asset management support to over 11,500 staff across 190+ branches. You will join a Service Desk team that responds to requests both over the telephone and via our ITSM self-service portal.

You will be an adaptable team player with the skills to deliver remote and customer-facing support for our constantly evolving customer base and bespoke applications.

Skills and day-to-day activities  

  • Asset management

Administrate software asset management processes, updating licencing and entitlement information, ensuring accurate allocations of licences and permissions based on users’ roles.

  • Identity and access management

Follow the joiner onboarding and leaver off-boarding access controls, using the support and cyber processes. Take responsibility for actioning access requests for approved systems and working tickets flows within service management tooling.

  • Data analysis
    Provide in-depth analysis of software utilisation, specifically focussed on compliance with licence conditions and company standards.
  • Service level management

Perform the services required in line with required by service level agreements, such as from initial request to deployed software. Report on exceptions.

  • Data management

Ensure that accurate data is captured and recorded with regards to the software assets, approved software catalogue and utilisation.

  • Application support

Assist Support Desk with call handling. Cooperate with end point and modern workplace teams when support is required to ensure the updates, patches and agreed versions are deployed successfully across the estate.

  • Configuration management

Safeguard the consistency of licence allocation and software deployments to support the business operations in compliance with legislation.

  • Sourcing

Recognise the difference between open source and proprietary systems options. Apply standard procedures and tools to produce detailed evaluation criteria to maintain the approved applications catalogue.

Knowledge and experience

  • Experience of following software asset management processes
  • Familiarity with operating joiners, movers and leavers processes
  • Knowledge of Free, Licensed and Open-Source Software (FLOSS) licence models
  • Ability to provide high-quality service delivery and customer satisfaction
  • The flexibility to handle rapidly changing priorities
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with technical and non-technical staff
  • Ability to work from home

Nice to have but not essential

  • Evidence of professional training and certification in Microsoft or other commercial vendors software licensing
  • Evidence of professional training and certification in open-source software licensing. You may be asked to provide evidence as to how you are already operating at these skill levels if you are invited to interview with us.
