Hours
Full time: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Location
This is a hybrid role, with your time spread between your home and our Head Office in Kilbirnie Street, Glasgow.
About the role
Arnold Clark’s Digital department is responsible for delivering technical solutions across our business.
Reporting to the Service Desk Manager, you will be actively engaged in leading a team that provide software asset management support to over 11,500 staff across 190 plus branches. You will join a Service Desk team that responds to requests both over the telephone and via our ITSM self-service portal.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience of operating and following processes relating to software asset management, maintaining a software catalogue and joiners, movers and leavers. You will show meticulous attention to detail in regards to licence allocations, user permissions and entitlement, with knowledge of Free, Licensed and Open-Source Software (FLOSS) licences.
You will be an adaptable team player with the skills to deliver remote and customer-facing support for our constantly evolving customer base and bespoke applications.
Skills and day-to-day activities
- Stakeholder relationship management
Engage with stakeholders across different departments to understand asset requirements, provide updates and ensure effective communication.
Take responsibility for the administration of the software asset management processes, updating licencing and entitlement information, ensuring accurate records of licence allocations.
- Identity and access management
Operate the joiner onboarding and leaver offboarding access controls, using the support and cyber processes. Take responsibility for actioning access requests for approved systems and working tickets flows within service management tooling.
Communicate the findings of the analysis of software utilisation, specifically focussing on compliance with licence conditions and company standards. Use the knowledge gained from the findings to contribute to continuous improvements and refinements of the processes.
Co-ordinate the delivery of the services performed by the FLOSS team in line with service level agreements, such as from initial request to deployed software. Work with team members for any exceptions and support ongoing change.
Ensure that appropriate data is captured and recorded with regards to the software assets, approved software catalogue and utilisation.
Assist Support Desk with call handling. Collaborate with end point and modern workplace teams to ensure the updates, patches and agreed versions are deployed successfully across the estate.
Use your knowledge of the various open source and commercial licensing models to inform decision makers on appropriate choices for selecting and adding software to the approved applications catalogue.
Knowledge and experience
- Proficiency in leading and mentoring a team
- Experience of operating software asset management processes, including, but not limited to, allocation of licences and permissions
- Familiarity with operating joiners, movers and leavers processes
- Knowledge of Free, Licensed and Open-Source Software (FLOSS) licence models
- Ability to provide high-quality service delivery and customer satisfaction
- The flexibility to handle rapidly changing priorities
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with technical and non-technical staff
- Ability to work from home
Nice to have but not essential
- Evidence of professional training and certification in Microsoft or other commercial vendors software licensing, and certification in open-source software licensing
