Hours
Full time: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

The Arnold Clark Digital team are completely digitising and revolutionising the automotive
customer experience. We have an opportunity to solve some of the most interesting and
complex customer problems with user-centred design.
As a Digital Product Designer, you’ll make decisions and contribute to outcomes that have a massive impact on our customer’s experience and on the success of the business. You’ll use data and insights to inform your design decisions and test your UX solutions with real
customers.
Arnold Clark is the UK’s largest independently owned, family-run car retailer and you’ll play
a crucial role in our award-winning, cross-functional team. Each of our digital products offer exciting and unique UX challenges, and you’ll be collaborating on innovative ways to drive these products forward and drive car retailing into the future.
About the Digital Product Design team at Arnold Clark
We are a passionate and talented team of Digital Product Designers who love our work
and the craft of digital product design. We work hard to foster a strong sense of community in our team while working on different products across all of Arnold Clark Digital.
We have a team of around 140 people, made up of designers, engineers and product
people. You’ll be working in a cross-functional product team and be part of the team of 10 Digital Product Designers. This role reports to the Head of Digital Product Design.
Day-to-day duties
- Make decisions and contribute to outcomes that have a massive impact on our customer’s experience and on the success of the business.
- Use data and insights to inform your design decisions and test your UX solutions with real customers.
- Take charge of each stage of the product design process, from user research, wireframing and prototyping to user testing and delivering high-fidelity prototypes.
- Work closely with product owners and product managers to ensure the best features are being shipped that deliver for the customer and the business.
- Work closely with engineers to see your vision through to production.
Essential skills and experience
Ability to create user-centered designs that enhance usability, accessibility, and
satisfaction. This includes building high-fidelity prototypes, conducting usability
tests, gathering feedback, and refining designs to meet user and business goals.
- User research
Skilled in gathering insights on users’ needs, behaviours, and pain points
through research methods like interviews, surveys, and usability testing. Able to
use these insights to inform design decisions and create products that align with
user expectations and business needs.
- Design systems
Proficient in developing reusable components and patterns to maintain
consistency across digital products. Works within a scalable design framework
that integrates seamlessly with technical systems for efficient development and
a unified user experience.
- Customer experience design
Dedicated to crafting engaging and frictionless user experiences that foster
satisfaction and loyalty. Focuses on reducing barriers, ensuring a consistent
experience across touchpoints, and aligning design with business goals to drive
customer retention.
- Stakeholder collaboration
Experienced in working with product owners, managers, and engineers to define
design requirements that meet both customer and business needs. Comfortable
presenting design concepts, incorporating feedback, and collaborating to deliver
impactful solutions. Strong communication skills and the ability to talk through each and every one of your design decisions.
- A real passion for design
Naturally, you should get excited by design thinking, user research and user testing just as much as you do by creating beautiful screen designs. You’ll also have a genuine passion for solving real problems with design.
Nice to have but not essential
- Design tools
Skilled with industry-standard design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD) and
adaptable to new tools as needed. Able to contribute to and work within an
established design system.
- Quality assurance
Ensures high standards across design work, maintaining brand consistency and
quality throughout all deliverables.
- Basic coding knowledge
Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to appreciate the technical
implementation of designs, support effective prototyping, and work effectively
with developers.
