We’re looking for a new Operations Manager to support our branches in North and Central England.

Hours

Full time: Monday – Friday, 9am – 6pm (30 minutes for lunch)

Location

The successful candidate will ideally be based along the M62 corridor with good access to motorways. They will be required to travel to branches and our Head Office, which may require some overnight stays.

About the role

As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining open lines of communication with management, staff and branches to ensure we are exceeding our customers’ expectations.

You will help to grow the efficiency of existing operational processes and procedures while planning, coaching and coordinating your team’s day-to-day activities to continually improve performance and profitability. You will also use effective training methods to develop a high-performance culture while implementing, improving and enhancing processes and policies to achieve organisational goals.

This role requires a highly motivated and organised individual who can work on their own initiative. You will have the ability to educate, motivate, build and influence across all levels of the business while acting as a brand ambassador to achieve high performance and excellent levels of customer satisfaction. You will lead by example and motivate your team to achieve and exceed their targets while delivering a high standard of work.

Day-to-day duties

  • Ensure adherence to company policy and procedures in relation to compliance, security and health and safety.
  • Manage operational performance to improve upon targets for increasing profitability conversation and accuracy to reduce losses, while also actively participating in managing and setting performance targets.
  • Playing a significant role in long-term planning, including initiatives geared towards operational excellence.
  • Promote the highest levels of customer service to our customers while maximising the performance of your region.
  • Be an advocate for the company's purchasing/handover process, ensuring that it is compliant at all times.
  • Develop a culture of high achievement and the implementation of agreed best practices.
  • Grow the efficiency of existing operational processes and procedures to enhance and sustain the organisation’s internal capacity.
  • Promote a high-performance culture and create a working environment in which your staff can become successful.

Essential skills and experience

  • Three years or more in an area/regional/multi-branch role within the retail/sales marketplace.
  • Ability to educate and influence customers of all levels and act as a brand ambassador to achieve high performance.
  • A highly effective communicator with the ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner at all levels within the company and with customers.
  • Excellent timekeeping, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • A high level of accuracy and the ability to multi-task.
  • The ability to lead by example while motivating your team to achieve and exceed targets and deliver a high standard of work.
  • Ability to analyse trends to take the appropriate corrective actions.
  • Have a good knowledge of digital tools that can be used to increase productivity.

Nice to have but not essential

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Good knowledge of cars and vans.
  • Have a keen eye for detail when inspecting vehicles to ensure the condition is accurately reflected on the online purchasing platform.
  • An understanding of the mechanics of a Click & Collect service.
  • An understanding of the sales journey in the automotive industry.
