Hours

Full time: Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5pm (with 30 mins for lunch)

About the role

The M&E Manager is responsible for ensuring that heating and lighting across the Group is operational.

The M&E Manager will work with the Facilities and Projects teams in order to maintain and install new heating and electrical systems/equipment across the Group’s portfolio.

The ideal candidate will have good communication skills and a positive approach to customer care, as well as the ability to work in a demand-driven department.

Day-to-day duties

  • Build and agree a strategy for reactive and planned maintenance.
  • Perform branch audits to build an asset register and condition report. Information can be drawn from existing contractor reports to inform the report.
  • Ensure all buildings are operational from a mechanical and electrical perspective.
  • Make daily decisions on planning, prioritising, allocation and organising when it comes to M&E maintenance contractors – make sure they complete planned and reactive work orders within service legal agreements.
  • Coordinate emergency responses, using M&E maintenance contractors as necessary.
  • Inclusion on the emergency call out rota for out-of-hours emergencies (Given the size of the team, this is likely to be 2/3 weeks per year).
  • Ensure safe systems of work are followed for working at height, in confined spaces, for permits to work, use of tools, equipment, and materials. Carry out routine inspections and follow up on necessary corrective actions.
  • Assess contractors for the approved list of contractors in this field.

Essential skills and qualifications

  • City & Guilds or Advanced Modern Apprenticeship NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • A qualified time-served tradesman in mechanical and/or electrical disciplines
  • Substantial post-qualification experience in a similar maintenance environment
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation pertaining to construction and maintenance
