About the role

Reporting to the Data Governance Manager, the Data Governance Analyst will play a vital role in maximising the value of our data.

You will work closely with colleagues across the business to ensure that all data questions are answered in an efficient and compliant manner and that business outcomes can be achieved at pace.

You will help to maximise the value we get from data and the digital products that we build, all while improving the observability and usability of data within our organisation. You’ll be expected to drive business outcomes and work closely with the Data Governance Manager to ensure our policies and processes reflect the way we deal with data and vice versa.

Day-to-day duties

  • Reviewing domain governance across the business, ensuring a clear audit trail.
  • Tracking progress and reporting against Data Standards.
  • Building upon the existing data management framework.
  • Working with the Data Governance Manager and Data Owners in the business to develop data quality policies and standards and to improve data processes.
  • Liaising between the business and technology.
  • Preparing material for Data Councils, Data Management Working Groups and agreed forums, including pack collation and council governance (minutes, actions, decisions).

Essential skills and experience

  • Strong background in data management
  • Ability to manage complex and multiple work streams while delivering solutions within a tight deadline
  • Proven track record of strong project management delivery; data risk management experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels, with a focus on guiding, rolling out and adherence of data governance best practices, standards and policies to technical and non-technical teams
  • Good experience in defining, designing and implementing policies, guidelines, tools, metrics and standards for data management and governance framework
  • Full clean driving licence
