We are currently recruiting for the following position to be based in our Procurement Department, Glasgow.
Category Buyer
The successful candidate will have experience and a proven track record in the following;
Core Skills / Experience
Sound knowledge of strategic purchasing across a range of categories built up from considerable experience within procurement. Alongside a good understanding of supply chain management principles. Previous experience in the following key elements are required;
• Leading category Sourcing reviews
• Management of key suppliers (or categories)
• Proactive approach to business development
• A proven track record of delivery
• Strong stakeholder engagement
• Drive for change
• Strong negotiation skills
Secondary Skills / Experience
Having an understanding of a transactional purchasing process would be beneficial;
Goods Ordering, Purchase Orders, Goods Receipting, Invoicing, Setting up new suppliers / Purchase Ledgers.
Personal characteristics will show a self- motivated individual, the drive for change must be intrinsic with regard improvements in efficiency, cost and /or quality (at a big picture level).
A high degree of IT literacy covering standard Microsoft packages (such as Excel, Powerpoint and Word) is required, alongside a full driving licence.
